What to Expect in the Role A typical day as a Water Source Tech I involves hands-on fieldwork supporting the operation and maintenance of the City's culinary and secondary water systems. You may monitor wells, tanks, pump houses, and SCADA telemetry; perform water sampling and testing; maintain chlorine dosing equipment; troubleshoot leaks or frozen lines; and repair meters using auto-read and auto-view technology. As a Water Source Tech I, you'll help ensure proper water pressure and flow, track system performance, respond to work orders, and assist in regulatory compliance activities such as the Health Department Sanitation Survey. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn. Work Schedule The Water Source Tech I role is full-time and may require working outdoors year-round, responding to after-hours needs, and participating in the on-call rotation to support continual system reliability. Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • At least two years of experience related to water system operations, construction, maintenance, or equipment operation-or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Communicate effectively
  • Maintain accurate documentation
  • Work well with teams and the public
  • Physical ability to lift, climb, and work in outdoor environments

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of SCADA systems
  • Knowledge of water distribution methods
  • Knowledge of construction techniques
  • May be required to obtain confined space certification
