Plano Parks and Recreation is looking for Water Safety Instructors. This position is responsible for planning and instructing swimming lessons in accordance with City and department policies. The Water Safety Instructor I is an entry-level classification that follows routine procedures and guidelines under basic supervision. The incumbent ensures the safety of class participants, plans and instructs swimming lessons, maintains class attendance and course records, and responds to questions regarding swim lessons. This role also involves promoting public relations with facility users and outside organizations by presenting water safety seminars.

  • Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Knowledge of American Red Cross Water Safety curriculum and CPR.
  • Skill in communicating clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Skill in demonstrating all swimming strokes.
  • Ability to interact tactfully and effectively with the public.
