About The Position

The Water Resources Senior Project Manager leads the delivery of JMT's Water Resources projects while operating as a seller-doer to expand our North Carolina practice. The role begins by plugging into active projects as PM to drive quality, schedule, and budget, and in parallel develops new business and client relationships in target Water Resources markets (stormwater programs, stream/wetland restoration, dam removal, flood mitigation/resiliency). The Senior PM provides day-to-day project leadership, team mentorship, and collaborates with Section and Office leadership to align pursuits with JMT's strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in North Carolina, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 15+ years of experience including demonstrated experience delivering water resources projects
  • 15+ years of experience including demonstrated experience delivering water resources projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Strong Presentation Skills
  • Business development experience

Nice To Haves

  • CAPM or PMP
  • Experience working with local clients at the county and state level
  • Experience with multiple project delivery methods i.e. Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3

Responsibilities

  • Manage Water Resources project(s) in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget
  • Collaborates with disciplines and subconsultants to develop a risk-averse project scope and fee
  • Develop project specific project plans, Project Management Plans/quality management plan
  • Create and maintain project schedules
  • Manage subconsultants
  • Monitor and execute project progress, including identifying and mitigate risks, developing extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals
  • Communicate project status, updates, and issues to internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare progress reports and review invoices
  • Coordinate and guide all technical resources within the project team to ensure the delivery of a high-quality outcome
  • Coordinate regulatory strategy and submittals typical to water resources work (e.g., USACE 404/401, NCDEQ, NCDOT Erosion & Sediment Control/Stormwater, local floodplain and stormwater)
  • Support construction-phase services (bid support, RFIs, submittals, progress meetings, pay applications, punch lists) to ensure design intent and quality
  • Participate in office's project financial status meetings
  • Build relationships with client(s) to understand preferences and requirements to set-up and execute a quality project
  • Develop and lead in project status and presentations
  • Assist Section Heads, Office Leaders, and Practice Leaders with the marketing process including, SMART Go/No Go decisions, proposal development, interviews, and developing a win strategy targeted to North Carolina and Water Resources markets
  • Collaborating with Section Head and Office Leader on identifying leads and opportunities based on strategic goals
  • Assist Section Head and Office Leader with developing strategic goals based on client's program information, etc.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of clients and other industry stakeholders
  • Leveraging advanced knowledge and experience with the client and project type to analyze the project, anticipate potential risks (such as overruns and scope changes), and implement effective mitigation strategies
  • Implement strategies for project tracking and reporting by using project performance metrics to foresee and mitigate issues
  • Providing coaching and mentorship to the project team through one-on-one check-in meetings and various project debriefs to acknowledge achievements, identify areas for improvement, and share lessons learned
  • Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of team
