Requirements

• Working knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics principles.
• Knowledge of water resources engineering and hydrology.
• Proficiency in office software programs (MS Office Suite).
• Experience with surface water modeling software (e.g., RiverWare, GoldSim, HEC-RAS).
• General GIS knowledge and programming experience (Visual Basic, Python, R, etc.).
• Knowledge of database management methodologies and SQL.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform and Earth Engine.
• Ability to communicate information clearly in writing.
• Experience in project task scheduling and organization.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning for Utah's future water needs in the Hydrology and Modeling section.
• Support water resource planning studies and build/maintain surface water models.
• Conduct hydrologic modeling and Great Salt Lake modeling.
• Develop water demand models for municipal, industrial, and agricultural users.
• Perform flood inundation studies and create custom programs for data interaction.
• Use engineering software such as RiverWare, GoldSim, ArcGIS Pro, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS.
• Conduct hydrologic studies, build models, and document results.
• Design and use databases for data manipulation and visualization.
• Utilize GIS for modeling and decision-making support.
• Ensure accurate information is presented to the public and decision-makers.
• Develop scripts and programs to analyze problems.
• Coordinate with Division staff and other agencies to achieve Division goals.
