We are seeking a qualified individual to lead and manage hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design. The position is part of our Civil Engineering Design Department in NC. Projects will primarily involve hydraulic engineering for roadway/highway, municipal street, and pedestrian (greenways, multi-use trails) projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology with a minimum of 10 years of progressive hydraulic design experience
  • PE license in NC or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment.
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling with step backwater programs (HEC-RAS) and knowledge of FEMA requirements.
  • Experience in drainage design, stormwater management practices and regulations, and erosion control designs
  • Knowledge of NCDOT design standards and practices and experience in project development workflow
  • Proactive and self-motivated attitude
  • Experience with managing and organizing multiple tasks and related disciplines.
  • Strong engineering analysis and judgment
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Experience in staff and project management
  • Experience managing and training support staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microstation , Geopak , Geopak Drainage, and Open Roads Designer
  • SCM design experience
  • Stream restoration experience
  • CFM Certification
  • Floodplain mapping experience
  • NCDOT, SCDOT and VDOT design experience

Responsibilities

  • Market hydraulic department's services to new and existing clients
  • Manage hydraulic workload, staff, and schedules
  • Lead hydraulic design of stream crossings, drainage systems and erosion control for a wide range of transportation-related projects
  • Manage hydrologic and hydraulic modeling in HEC-RAS for bridges and culverts
  • Manage preparation of MOA, CLOMR and LOMR packages
  • Manage hydraulic analyses and oversee report generation
  • Oversee project/contracting scoping, fee development, contract negotiations, and execution
  • Attend public meetings and presentations as needed
  • Train support staff and review work
  • Assist with project pursuits in providing technical expertise on proposals and marketing meetings
