Your Opportunity The role of a Water Resources EIT is to work as a team member on small and large projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. The Water Resources EIT will work under direct supervision of a Senior Engineer to develop skills in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering water resource elements for projects. This position will be based out of our Mechanicsburg, PA office and has the possibility of a hybrid work schedule once you are up and running. Current design projects that you may have the opportunity to help deliver include: PennDOT | I-83 North York Widening Project - Learn more at: www.i83northyork.com PennDOT | U.S. 219 Meyersdale to Old Salisbury Road - Learn more at: www.penndot.pa.gov/RegionalOffices/district-9/PublicMeetings/Somerset-County/us-219-meyersdale-to-old-salisbury/Pages/default.aspx PennDOT | SR 228 Corridor Improvement Project Your Key Responsibilities Uses basic knowledge of the general concepts of relevant civil engineering elements including the design of drainage, stormwater, E&S control, grading, etc and applies them under the guidance of senior staff Assists with civil engineering design tasks on assigned transportation and oil/natural gas related projects. Supports the design ofdrainage conveyance systems, stormwater management features, and erosion and sediment (E&S) pollution control features, for transportation (PennDOT and PA Turnpike Commission) and Oil/Natural Gas projects by applying foundational water resources concepts Perform design calculations with oversight from more experienced engineers Assist in preparation of stormwater management plans, E&S pollution control plans, culvert analysis, drainage pipe and inlet design, channel design and NPDES/ESCGP/waterway permit document preparation. Assists in the preparation of engineering calculations, project documents reports, client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects, depending on experience. Attends and assists in client/contractor/stakeholder meetings to gain a better understanding of client’s goals, depending on experience. Identifies potential technical issues during design tasks and promptly seeks guidance from senior engineers to determine next steps. Utilizes relevant software programs to prepare exhibits and complex working drawings. Continues to develop skills using software programs for design and/or drafting. Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
  • Asking questions and seeking guidance to develop sound judgment.
  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team.
  • Familiar with Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
  • Developing communication skills with opportunities to observe or support discussions with clients and reviewing agencies.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission design criteria is a plus.
  • Proficiencyin Microstation, as well as relevant software programs which may include In Roads/Open Roads, Auto Turn, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Hydraflow Storm Sewers and Hyrdographs, HydraCAD, and StormCAD is a plus
  • Water resources experience to include projects with PennDOT or the Pennsylvania Turnpike is a plus
