About The Position

The State Water Resources Control Board's Colorado River Basin has an opening for a Water Resource Control Engineer in the Site Cleanup Unit. The position is located at 73-720 Fred Waring Dr., Suite 100, Palm Desert, CA 92260 in the beautiful and scenic Coachella Valley with panoramic views of the San Jacinto Mountains and year-round green landscaping and palm trees. This position involves protecting the environment and human health through groundwater protection efforts. Candidates must possess essential personal qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and the ability to perform the assigned duties of the class.

Requirements

• Must have Water Resource Control Engineer list, transfer, or reinstatement eligibility.
• Possess a current and valid Driver's License if the position requires driving.
• Education records evaluated by a credential's evaluation service if obtained outside the United States.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge and experience in conducting investigations and remediation of contaminants.
• Understanding of contaminants fate and transport in the environment.
• Experience with project management.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Good computer skills (Excel, Word, Access, Power Point).
• Knowledge of regulations related to water resources protection.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations and remediation of multiple contaminants in various media including soil, soil gas, and groundwater.
• Organize and conduct field investigations and facility inspections.
• Review environmental workplans and reports.
• Apply good judgment in analyzing water quality issues.
• Work independently and in cooperation with other technical staff.
• Follow through on commitments, organize and set priorities, and meet deadlines.
