The State Water Resources Control Board's Division of Financial Assistance has three openings for a Water Resource Control Engineer in the Office of Sustainable Water Solutions. The positions are located at 1001 I Street, 16th Floor, Sacramento, CA 95814 right in the heart of downtown next to light rail stations and other public transportation. Duties: Under the close supervision of a Senior Water Resource Control Engineer (Supervisory) and consistent with good customer service practices and the goals of the State and Regional Board's Strategic Plan, the Water Resource Control Engineers are responsible for performing a variety of complex professional tasks related to planning, design, construction, management, and implementation of water quality protection and improvement projects seeking financing from the Safe and Affordable Drinking Water Fund, Drinking Water and Clean Water State Revolving Fund's grant/principal forgiveness funding, state bond funding and other infrastructure appropriations. Requirements

  • Candidates must possess essential personal qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and the ability to perform the assigned duties of the class.
  • If the position requires driving, you must possess a current and valid driver's license.
  • Must have Water Resource Control Engineer list, transfer, or reinstatement eligibility and be reachable on the certification list.
  • An applicant with a college degree obtained outside the United States that does meet accreditation standards must have education records evaluated by a credentials evaluation service.
  • You are required to complete employment history on the application form (STD. 678), including work experience, dates, hours worked, contact names and phone numbers of supervisors on the state application.
  • Applicants who fail to submit a completed STD. 678 may be disqualified.

  • Project management experience and ability to effectively prioritize workload.
  • Knowledge and/or experience working on complex wastewater and/or drinking water systems and their design, operation and maintenance needs, and construction costs/timelines.
  • Knowledge of drinking water and/or wastewater regulations, State or federal funding programs, and/or management of financial agreements or contracts.
