About The Position

The Water Reclamation Supervisor oversees shift operations and maintenance activities to ensure efficient, compliant performance of the Water Reclamation Facility. Supervising 5–9 operators or maintenance staff, the incumbent serves as a working supervisor responsible for training, scheduling, directing work, evaluating performance, resolving issues, and ensuring proper operation of plant processes and equipment. The role involves monitoring treatment operations through SCADA, analyzing plant data using CMMS, Hach WIMS, and LIMS, and making operational decisions to maintain regulatory compliance. The supervisor assists with process control reviews, special projects, plant upgrades, SOP and O&M manual updates, and construction or pilot studies. They ensure the maintenance and security of a wide range of treatment equipment, update technical drawings and operational documentation, maintain detailed records, and help administer labor contract terms. Overtime may be required to support continuous plant operations.

Requirements

  • Must meet one of the following: 1. Bachelor’s or Associate's Degree in Engineering, Wastewater Technology, Environmental Science or an equivalent field AND 1 year of hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of a Water Reclamation Plant, a Water Reclamation Facility and/or Water Resource Recovery Facility. Experience may instead be in Wastewater Laboratory, Industrial Pretreatment, Biosolids Treatment and Disposal, Wastewater Collection System Work, Troubleshooting Water Reclamation Plant Facilities or Military Experience in Water Reclamation; OR 2. High school diploma or G.E.D. AND 2 years of hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of a Water Reclamation Plant, a Water Reclamation Facility and/or Water Resource Recovery Facility. One of the 2 years’ experience may instead be in Wastewater Laboratory, Industrial Pretreatment, Biosolids Treatment and Disposal, Wastewater Collection System Work, Troubleshooting Water Reclamation Plant Facilities or Military Experience in Water Reclamation. Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.
  • Must possess an Ohio EPA Water Reclamation Operator II License at time of appointment and obtain an Ohio EPA Water Reclamation Operator III License within 36 months from the date of hire and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
  • Applications must specifically address each of the minimum qualifications, directly showing how each is met.
  • A background investigation and evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity is required prior to employment.
  • All candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including current city employees seeking transfer, promotion, demotion, etc. into a classified position.
  • Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination including drug screen.
  • Applicants offered employment with the City will be required to pass a nicotine screening.
  • Newly hired employees must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment.

Nice To Haves

  • An Ohio EPA Water Reclamation Operator III certification is preferred at time of appointment.
  • A valid Ohio Class B commercial driver's license is preferred at time of appointment.
