About The Position

The Water Quality Specialist at HDR is responsible for conducting environmental assessments and managing project-related data to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. This role involves independent decision-making, data collection, and collaboration with clients and government agencies to facilitate environmental impact assessments and permit coordination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a closely related field.
  • 5 years of technical and/or field experience preparing environmental documents.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel).
  • Strong environmental writing and communication skills.
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving, and research abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
  • Professional Registration.

Responsibilities

  • Collect project-related data, including research and surveys for listed species.
  • Conduct interviews with government agencies and clients.
  • Perform field investigations for wetlands and land use.
  • Prepare constraints mapping and define the level of environmental analysis required.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and make independent decisions on problems and methods.
  • Assist in preparation for and participation in public information meetings and hearings.
  • Assist clients with permit coordination, acquisition, and compliance.
  • Work independently on medium-sized projects or assist senior scientists on larger projects.
