About The Position

INTRODUCTION: Human Resources will screen applications and supplemental questionnaires. Candidates meeting the eligibility requirements will be forwarded to the hiring department for further review. Note: The successful candidate will be required to pass a drug screening and a background check. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate is a sophomore/junior undergraduate in civil or environmental engineering, who has the intention of applying to a graduate program. Knowledge and experience with laboratory procedures, mechanical equipment, tools/parts, and piloting is desirable. This position will provide support of water quality and treatment pilot projects. GENERAL PURPOSE: The position will provide support for water quality and treatment projects. Also, experience working in a laboratory setting or engineering firm is preferable. Assisting in laboratory experiments, running, and maintaining analytical instrumentation, microbiological techniques, wet chemistry, data analysis, literature searches, laboratory organization, materials inventory and safety documentation, pilot testing, pilot maintenance, presentation and report preparation. NOTE: The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related field (e.g., chemistry, water resource, hydrology).
  • Current enrollment with a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester (undergraduate level) or 3 credit hours per semester (graduate level)
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Available to work approximately 25 hours weekly.
  • A valid Nevada driver's license
  • Legal right to work in the US, including authorization to work off-campus.

Nice To Haves
