The selected candidate may also be eligible for relocation expense reimbursement. In addition, this position includes a 2.5%25 base pay increase effective July 2026.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Montana Professional Engineering License or ability to obtain in a reasonable amount of time.
5+ years of relevant work experience including 3+ years of successful leadership experience.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in civil engineering or closely related field is preferred.
Extensive understanding of engineering principles, water infrastructure systems, and regulatory frameworks at the state, federal and local levels is required.
Advanced expertise in project management, budgeting, and strategic planning is essential for overseeing large-scale water projects.
Demonstrated skill in managing complex, multidisciplinary teams and delivering projects on time and within budget is critical.
Strong problem-solving, high-level communication, and negotiation abilities are necessary for engaging stakeholders and ensuring project success.
Proven ability to provide strategic leadership, develop talent, and foster cross-functional collaboration in a dynamic environment is vital.
Must be able to adapt to evolving regulations and priorities, drive innovation and make sound decisions under pressure to achieve organizational goals.

Responsibilities

Lead engineering design, review, and construction of water resource projects.
Manage budgets, schedules, and contracts.
Supervise and mentor project engineers and technical staff.
Collaborate with local governments, water users and other stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with water management and safety regulations.
