Job Summary The Water Plant Technician is responsible for maintaining and operating the golf course's water management systems, including pumps, filtration equipment, and irrigation controls. This hands-on role involves daily monitoring, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure the effective and efficient distribution of water throughout the golf course and surrounding landscape areas. The Water Plant Technician plays a critical role in supporting the overall maintenance goals of the club. Reporting Structure Reports to the Equipment Manager Day to Day Monitor and adjust irrigation schedules and programs to optimize water use across all turf and landscaped areas. Operate and maintain pumps, valves, filtration systems, and other water distribution equipment. Inspect and clean irrigation heads, pipes, and other components to ensure proper function. Assist in the repair and replacement of irrigation lines, valves, and sprinkler heads as needed. Perform regular inspections and routine maintenance on all water plant equipment, including pumps, filtration units, and control systems. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with water distribution systems, such as leaks, clogs, or equipment malfunctions. Report significant maintenance needs or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor promptly. Maintain accurate records of water usage, system maintenance, and repairs. Assist in applying water treatment chemicals, such as algaecides or chlorine, following established safety protocols and guidelines. Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of all chemicals and materials used in water treatment. Follow all safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Assist with other maintenance duties on the golf course, such as mowing, landscaping, or general grounds keeping, as needed. Collaborate with other team members to complete daily tasks and support overall department goals. Participate as a team member in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient working environment. Additional Duties Due to the dynamic nature of the club, employees are expected to assist others as needed and take on additional tasks as assigned by management. Follow all company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions. Maintain a high level of professionalism and a commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff. Follow safe working practices, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and encouraging others to do the same. Take the initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain any required certifications relevant to your role. Address and resolve challenges using available resources, working with regional and corporate teams to support club operations. Attend daily briefings and actively engage in required activities to stay informed and contribute to the team’s success.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in water plant operation, irrigation systems, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems, pumps, and water management equipment.
