About The Position

Technical responsibility for providing semi-skilled operation of water pumping, purification and related equipment within the city's water treatment plant. Work is performed under the close direction and supervision of the Water Treatment Branch Manager, Water Plant Superintendent, Plant Foreman or other supervisory employee.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent.
One year of experience in water plant operations desirable.
Ability to obtain Montana Class I Water Treatment Plant Operator Trainee certification within one year of employment.
Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain valid Montana driver's license.
Basic knowledge of the principles and practices of water treatment plant operations.
Basic knowledge of the principles of plant equipment, including valves, pumps and motors.
Basic knowledge of the principles of chemistry and biology.
Ability to prepare accurate written records and reports.
Ability to utilize and operate required computer technology and systems

Responsibilities

Conducts plant inspections to read and record readings of equipment gauges, dials, graphs and other instrumentation.
Performs general plant and equipment maintenance, cleaning and repairs.
Collects process treatment samples for analysis to determine adherence to quality assurance standards.
Performs Basic Laboratory analysis in adherence with established protocols.
Works with skilled craftsmen on installation, maintenance or repair projects.
Operates light equipment including compact loader/utility vehicle, forklift and front-deck mower
Respond after hours to perform assigned work duties in the event of emergency or weather related response
Document and maintain current water treatment plant certification within 1 year
