About The Position

Holley-Navarre Water System is an 18,000 strong member-owned not-for-profit water and wastewater company in Santa Rosa County. HNWS has an annual budget of approximately $16 million. HNWS wholly owns two subsidiaries, an engineering firm, and a golf course. This is trainee-level work in the operation of water treatment plant equipment and facilities on an assigned shift. The purpose of this classification is to prepare the employee for Class “C” level certification required for employment as a Water Treatment Plant Operator. After instruction and orientation, the employee will be expected to carry out routine duties as performed by a Water Treatment Plant Operator.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to become familiar with company-specific programs and software.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License (must be approved as insurable driver by insurance carrier), Class A license preferred.
  • Must progress with training, complete coursework, pass the licensing exam, and obtain and maintain a Class “C” Water Operator Treatment Plant Operator license within two (2) years from the official date of hire, as a condition of continued employment.

Responsibilities

  • Performing daily chemical analyses, in accordance with state-mandated requirements and federal guidelines.
  • Recording flow meter readings and analyzer results.
  • Operating water plant equipment to include, but not limited to, chemical feed systems, pumps, valves, filters, motors, and mixers.
  • Recognizing equipment failure or treatment deficiencies and taking appropriate corrective action utilizing sound judgment.
  • Maintaining a neat and clean work area including lime machines, chemical feeders, and laboratory areas.
  • Maintaining and wearing proper safety apparel.
  • Preparing and completing various forms, reports, inventories, and other documents then forwards and maintains as appropriate.
  • Working varying shifts, hours, and locations to become trained in all aspects of plant operations.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Other duties as required.
