Purpose Performs activities including, but not limited to, operating and monitoring well stations and pump equipment, adding and adjusting chemicals, reading flow meters in gauges, testing water chemistry, checking and lubricating equipment, and collecting and recording operational information. Collect and transport water samples. Supervise treatment and assure proper monitoring and control. Duties also include operating various mechanical equipment operating treatment facilities, answering telephones and plant house-keeping and general care of the facilities and grounds.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Computer literate and able to learn and work with company computer systems and software.
  • Able to read instrumentation and water quality equipment.
  • General background of main pumping station operation.
  • Basic operating knowledge of pumps, motors, water treatment, and other equipment related to pumping stations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform activities including operating and monitoring well stations and pump equipment.
  • Add and adjust chemicals, read flow meters in gauges, test water chemistry.
  • Check and lubricate equipment, collect and record operational information.
  • Collect and transport water samples.
  • Supervise treatment and assure proper monitoring and control.
  • Operate various mechanical equipment in treatment facilities.
  • Answer telephones and maintain general care of the facilities and grounds.
  • Meet customers and perform meter service operations including reading, setting, and removing meters.
  • Perform inspections for high bills and plumbing inspections, check for cross connections.
  • Perform outside physical labor related to the installation and maintenance of piping, fire hydrants, and services.
  • Flush water mains and perform water utility mark outs.
  • Function as backup to the Sr Utility Person and oversee contractor staff during installations.
  • Receive and supervise water treatment chemical deliveries.
  • Determine if equipment is operating properly and troubleshoot minor issues.
  • Conduct safety inspections and work in a safe manner.
  • Troubleshoot and address water-related complaints.
  • Communicate effectively with owners, employees, customers, and regulatory personnel.
  • Participate in after-hour call rotation and respond to water system emergencies.
