About The Position

The Water Operations Technician supports the safe and efficient operation of water treatment, salt water disposal (SWD), and water distribution systems across field operations. This role primarily monitors and manages water infrastructure through SCADA and remote monitoring systems to ensure optimal performance, system reliability, and regulatory compliance. The technician tracks system performance, responds to operational alarms, adjusts pumps and valves remotely, and coordinates with field personnel when on-site troubleshooting or repairs are required. This position requires strong technical awareness, analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with operations and maintenance teams to maintain continuous water handling operations.

Requirements

  • Experience working with water treatment systems, salt water disposal (SWD), produced water infrastructure, or water distribution systems.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems for monitoring and controlling operational equipment.
  • Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge related to pumps, valves, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Ability to interpret system alarms and troubleshoot operational issues remotely.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond quickly during operational disruptions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with field operations personnel.
  • Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background, drug, MVR, fit for duty, and agility.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor water treatment plants, salt water disposal systems, and water distribution networks through SCADA systems.
  • Track system performance including flow rates, pressure levels, reservoir levels, and injection activity.
  • Identify abnormal operating conditions and respond appropriately to maintain system integrity.
  • Adjust pumps, valves, and system controls remotely to maintain optimal system performance.
  • Respond to SCADA alarms and initiate corrective actions when operational issues occur.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues using system diagnostics and remote monitoring tools.
  • Communicate with field operators regarding maintenance activities, repairs, and operational adjustments.
  • Dispatch I&E technicians, electrical crews, and field personnel when on-site troubleshooting is required.
  • Coordinate operational responses during equipment failures or emergency situations.
  • Record operational data, incidents, and maintenance activities in operational logs and reporting systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system performance and operational events.
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
  • Ensure operations comply with regulatory standards related to water handling, disposal, and environmental safety.
  • Follow company safety procedures and emergency response protocols during system failures or contamination events.
  • Participate in training, system upgrades, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system efficiency, reliability, and performance.
