About The Position
The Water Meter Installer at ABT Water Management, Inc. is responsible for inspecting, installing, and repairing water lines, water meters, radio transponders, and radio receiving equipment at various job sites throughout the United States. This position requires regular travel across the lower 48 states, which can last from days to weeks at a time. The installer will work primarily at customer sites, which may involve exposure to extreme temperatures and cramped working conditions. The role demands physical stamina, as it involves loading and unloading materials, equipment, and tools, as well as performing tasks that require standing, crawling, or squatting for extended periods. The installer must also be capable of lifting up to 125 pounds and possess basic mechanical skills to troubleshoot issues that may arise during installations. The Water Meter Installer reports directly to the Crew Supervisor and is expected to maintain excellent communication with both the supervisor and fellow employees. The job requires proficiency in math for verifying job specifications and the ability to read and understand process instructions and work orders. The installer must ensure that all work is completed efficiently and within budgeted labor hours, while also maintaining a clean and organized work area and vehicle. The position emphasizes professionalism and respect for customers and local establishments while on the road, as well as adherence to safety rules and company regulations. After a probationary period of 90 days, the installer may be eligible for increased pay and benefits, including health and dental insurance, paid time off, and performance-based bonuses.
