About The Position

The Water Mechanical/Electrical Specialist at Widefield Water & Sanitation District is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical components in water and wastewater systems. This role requires a blend of electrical and mechanical expertise, focusing on ensuring the operational efficiency of various equipment and systems used in the district's water management processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in the electrical industry with supplementary experience in the mechanical field, focusing on pumps, motors, and electrical control systems.
  • Training in PLCs, VFDs, and instrumentation is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, equipment manuals, and operating instructions.
  • Must have completed or be willing to complete formal courses on VFDs, PLCs, and Instrumentation within one year of employment.
  • Familiarity with using a voltmeter, amperage meter, winch, hoist, and other relevant tools for electrical and mechanical work.
  • Completion of Lock Out/Tag Out and electrical safety training is required before employment.

Responsibilities

  • Engages in the installation, removal, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical components such as pumps, motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), relays, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, and other equipment used in water and wastewater systems.
  • Maintains and repairs electrical control equipment, lighting, telemetry systems, and mechanical components at treatment plants, lift stations, well sites, and throughout the water system.
  • Participates in preventative and corrective maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and facilities, including structural repairs and conduit piping.
  • Repairs, installs, and removes lighting fixtures, including ballasts and components.
  • Performs troubleshooting on both mechanical and electrical issues in various equipment, providing reports on equipment conditions and recommending repairs, replacements, or improvements.
  • Completes and maintains necessary documentation such as work orders, reporting major problems and ensuring stock levels of required tools and equipment.
  • May require overtime, holidays, and weekends, and is subject to emergency response when needed.
