About The Position

The Water Marketing & Communications Specialist III position at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment plays a crucial role in enhancing communication and stakeholder engagement related to water quality issues. Requirements

  • Six (6) years of professional experience in graphic design, editing, publications, and general communications tasks.
  • OR a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a closely related field plus two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • OR a master's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a closely related degree, which substitutes for the bachelor's degree and required experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Outstanding editorial skills, including Associated Press style.
  • Experience working with water quality, biology, chemistry, and/or engineering subject matter.
  • Prior experience developing and managing comprehensive communications plans or marketing campaigns.
  • Excellent skills in reviewing and editing technical reports for public accessibility.
  • Strong ability to create and maintain web content and graphics.
  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination and management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage logistics of stakeholder engagement activities including scheduling meetings and preparing meeting materials.
  • Assist in the development of meeting designs for key external stakeholder processes.
  • Identify target audiences for stakeholder efforts and determine effective communication methods.
  • Develop and maintain communications with stakeholders and staff.
  • Coordinate training for division staff to enhance their capacity for effective stakeholder meetings.
  • Facilitate meetings and communicate with various stakeholders to promote the division's mission.
  • Support the production of communication materials related to division priorities, including newsletters and social media content.
  • Review and copy-edit technical division reports to make them accessible to the public.
  • Develop electronic information policies and procedures for public engagement.
  • Design materials using design programs to enhance readability and engagement.
