About The Position

The Water Effects Design Executive is a senior leader responsible for the integrated delivery of all l arge-scale design, production, and installation of water features and special effects water systems, for both Disney Live Entertainment as well as Attraction s s copes. Guided by project leadership’s direction, the Water Effects Design Executive ensures all show water effects work is aligned with and supports, established project strategies — delivering creative, technical, and operational excellence that advances project goals. This role also drives global fountain vendor strategies, develops new approaches to designing and procuring show water elements, and fosters innovative partnerships with water effects suppliers and creative collaborators worldwide. With d ual reporting into the Executive Show Systems as well as the Executive Show Leadership , this role is a ccountable for the successful design, procurement and installation of all water components of S how and Live Entertainment venues on project Atlas .

Requirements

  • 15 years’ minimum experience designing and installing water systems in Theme parks.
  • Experience related to Guest and Cast safety regarding treated and filtered water systems, water borne illness mitigation, adhering to TWDC Standards for pressures and flow as it relates to guest/cast contact.
  • Ability to brainstorm, Ideate, and interpret creative intent with the creative team to achieve desired effects .
  • Advanced knowledge of nozzle types and uses, high pressure fog installations, and ultra-sonic fog systems.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, with experience in SolidWorks.
  • Comprehensive blueprint reading skills across multiple disciplines.
  • Ability to work across multiple construction disciplines, with emphasis on mechanical system design—including piping layouts, equipment room layouts, piping schematics, and fabricated equipment package layouts.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with architects, engineers, designers, contractors, and developers.
  • Self-motivated , with the ability to identify , interpret, and resolve technical issues with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and maintain up-to-date and relevant knowledge of local, state, federal, and international regulatory requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in commercial water features, swimming pools, aquatics, or hydraulics; mechanical, HVAC, or related construction/industrial backgrounds are also a strong fit.
  • Mechanical engineering degree preferred; technical, design related , or Disney equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
  • Landscape architecture or traditional architecture backgrounds with mechanical design knowledge are welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the large-scale design, production, and installation of water features and special effects of water systems, for both Disney Live Entertainment and Attraction Scopes.
  • Support all phases of the project lifecycle, including design reviews, project design, site installation, and owner training.
  • Participate in international travel—and potential relocation—when for installation oversight, jobsite coordination, and technical training of field teams.
  • Concept, design and delivery of all required feasibility mockups
  • Planning & management of overall water effects design/production strategy
  • Oversight of water effects documentation to establish illusion scope schedule & budget
  • Oversight and management of all production activities to ensure water effects budget & schedule are met
  • Ensure interface occurs with all integrated disciplines to ensure internal/external requirements are met
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance and operations training & post opening support of water effects occurs
  • Field installation supervision
