About The Position

The Water Conservation Specialist I is a full-time, term-limited position focused on promoting water conservation in Greeley, CO. This role involves conducting water use assessments, recommending conservation techniques, and engaging with the community to support the City's water conservation goals. The position is funded for approximately 18 months, with the potential for extension based on future funding. The specialist will work closely with the Water Conservation Manager and contribute to various initiatives aimed at reducing water usage through education and incentives.

Requirements

  • Technical degree or higher related to industrial technologies, landscape management, or applied sciences.
  • Two years of documented experience in customer service.
  • One year of experience in the water industry conducting facility water assessments or outdoor irrigation audits.
  • Ability to obtain Certified Landscaped Irrigation Auditor (CLIA) and Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT) certifications within the first year of hire.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Industry certifications such as Sustainable Landscape Manager (SLM), Watershed Wise Landscape Professional (WWLP), or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct indoor and outdoor water assessments for residential, commercial, and institutional customers.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of rebate programs for water conservation.
  • Generate and distribute water assessment reports to customers.
  • Provide technical support related to water conservation to customers.
  • Review irrigation and landscape plans for new commercial developments.
  • Perform irrigation audits and inspections on new commercial systems.
  • Maintain irrigation systems at City facilities and demonstration gardens.
  • Utilize advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) for customer support and leak detection.
  • Provide public information and make presentations on water conservation programs.
  • Interpret and explain relevant regulations to the public.
  • Assist in public outreach and education efforts.
