About The Position

The Watch Person position at NYC Health + Hospitals involves performing routine security inspections of buildings and grounds to protect against trespassers and property damage or loss. Requirements

• A valid New York State Security Guard registration card issued by the Department of State.
• Satisfactory completion of a 16-hour On-the-Job Training (OJT) course within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Makes periodic inspections tours throughout buildings and grounds to examine doors, windows, gates, locks and equipment.
• Checks for trespassers, fires, leaks from water or steam lines, or any other causes which might result in property damage and/or loss.
• Discourages loitering, prevents trespassing and maintains order.
• Answers telephones and doorbells.
• In emergencies, operates elevators.
• May operate heating equipment.
