About The Position

The Watch Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the 24x7 oversight of Cruise's Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Operations from the Operations Control Center in Scottsdale, AZ. This position involves monitoring the entire AV fleet, coordinating with various operational teams, and ensuring effective response to any operational irregularities or crises. The Watch Officer is responsible for compiling operational plans, summarizing shift activities, and maintaining communication across departments to support the smooth functioning of AV operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant work experience in an operational environment.
  • Dynamic personality with a strong ability to lead by example.
  • Ability to manage high-pressure operational situations effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support with the entire AV fleet through direct monitoring and coordination with various functions.
  • Escalate operational irregularities to the OCC Duty Manager.
  • Assist in compiling daily operational plan documents and suggest modifications as needed.
  • Monitor operational execution relative to the daily plan and consolidate information into shift summaries and reports.
  • Gather incident facts to document non-nominal events.
  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Serve as a centralized information hub for operational partners.
  • Learn cross-functional duties and cover other positions as necessary.
  • Assist in identifying, triaging, and reporting crisis events, coordinating with Incident Management and Emergency Response teams.
  • Complete other tasks as directed by OCC leadership.
