About The Position

We are seeking a Watch Engineer near the Gulf Coast. They will be assigned to work on a Hydraulic Dredge to be responsible for all of the mechanical and electrical equipment, motors and engines onboard the vessel. They often work alongside the Chief Engineer on a project when repairs are needed. They perform many routine tasks such as hooking up hoses, cleaning up and assisting with fuel transfer operations. They will troubleshoot with the Chief Engineer and other crew members when conducting a repair or to determine a malfunction. They make periodic checks and visually inspects equipment such as, but not limited to: engines, motors, pumps, batteries, gauges and valves. They will maintain logs, ledgers and work orders regarding the overall performance of the dredge’s equipment by monitoring various computer devices, meters, and gauges. May lift, carry, pull or push items weighing up to 75 lbs. when assisting with repairs, the length of the vessel, and below deck.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 1 year of experience as Watch Engineer or 'Engineer-of-the-Watch' or prior watch standing experience in engine rooms or heavy machinery.
  • Must be able to learn engineering systems associated with dredge equipment.
  • Must be able to perform specialized work aboard the Dredge and attendant plant.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and organizing skills in a fast-paced multi-task work environment.
  • Must have a valid TWIC.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, pull, or push parts or supplies weighing up to 75lbs.
  • Proficient computer skills and maintaining information databases.

Nice To Haves

  • NS Enterprise experience preferred.
