About The Position

Hanover Foods Corporation - Centre Hall, PA, is currently seeking an experienced Wastewater Treatment Technician. The Wastewater Treatment Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining and troubleshooting the Wastewater Treatment (WWT) Facility and its processes. Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. Requirements

  • 0 to 2 years’ experience working in an industrial food facility.
  • 0 to 2 years’ experience in industrial mechanics.
  • 0 to 2 years’ experience working in the wastewater treatment field.
  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language; and general skills to satisfactorily complete the job requirements.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to work independently or well with all types of people (fellow employees and management).
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and be accurate and efficient in recordkeeping.
  • Must have working knowledge of basic machinery preventative maintenance and repair.
  • Must have knowledge of mechanical equipment and the ability to diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions.
  • Must have working knowledge of the operation, methods, and procedures of a WWT Plant.
  • Ability to physically lift 40-70 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a Wastewater Treatment facility or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all aspects of sampling, monitoring, and testing required to maintain compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations governing the WWT process and sludge management.
  • Responsible for the technical and mechanical aspects to ensure efficient operation of the WWT Plant.
  • Handles the installation, maintenance, and repair of the WWT Plant pumps and all their components.
  • On call to respond to emergencies and breakdowns when not scheduled.
  • Conducts the necessary weekend checks of the Treatment Plant (on a rotating basis).
  • Performs various checks and does paperwork throughout the shift ensuring accuracy and clearly legible handwriting.
  • Maintains open communications with the WWT Plant Operator regarding the treatment process, operations, and malfunctions, as well as makes recommendations for repairs and improvements to the systems.
  • Adheres to common safety practices and procedures including the wearing of proper PPE’s; and reports any safety issues to the WWT Plant Operator or management immediately.
  • Responsible for following food safety. legality, and quality policies and procedures within the scope of the job responsibilities such as but not limited to: GMP’s, food safety, product quality, food security, plant security, etc.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area in accordance with good housekeeping practices.
  • Adheres to plant hygiene standards to ensure high product integrity.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator.
