About The Position

Under the direction of the Wastewater Treatment Superintendent, operates and maintains the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Lift Stations. This position involves both inside and outside environments, and may be exposed to odors and fumes while working with chemicals, as well as bacteria and electrical hazards. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including the possibility of after-hours work on a rotating basis, which is compensated with additional overtime pay and/or compensatory time.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Must possess or obtain a class 'D' water certification per TCEQ regulations within one year;
  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of pumps, motors, electrical and mechanical equipment preferred;
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Wastewater Treatment Superintendent in the operation, repairs, and maintenance of wastewater treatment equipment at the Wastewater Treatment Plant and lift stations.
  • Operates equipment and drives trucks/equipment when needed.
  • Reads flow meters and collects samples; Performs record keeping and required lab analysis.
  • Keeps accurate and legible records of lab analyses, maintenance records, chemical dosage rates, etc.
  • Comply with all state and federal guidelines pertaining to wastewater treatment.
  • Assist with trouble calls.
  • Operates various hand tools and light equipment such as weed-eaters, chain saws, trash pumps, etc.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
