In this role, you will have the opportunity to function in a lead wastewater process engineer role, serving as a subject matter expert in conventional wastewater treatment processes. Your role will primarily focus on growing our Eastern Tennessee market, while also including diverse opportunities in wastewater as part of a team that directs the process design for projects around the world for a global engineering firm.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
  • Minimum of 8 years related work experience.
  • Professional engineering license from any of the states in the USA or ability to obtain one within 2 years of employment required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Doctoral) in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in wastewater treatment with at least 5 years in water quality and treatment.
  • Advanced knowledge of process design for treatment of municipal wastewater.
  • Experience with using modern process simulators such as BioWin, GPS-X, Sumo, and/or Simba#.
  • Established leadership skills with deep understanding of consulting, project execution, client services, and business development.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares a variety of complex engineering deliverables, including process models, process/mass balance calculations, design criteria/basis of design memoranda, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, tradeoff studies, and master planning studies.
  • Serves as a technical specialist providing guidance to project teams in conventional and/or emerging wastewater treatment systems.
  • Performs complex research, including applied research activities involving bench, pilot, and full-scale testing to select or assess performance of treatment processes.
  • Develops recommendations for appropriate treatment processes, equipment and/or materials selection.
  • Oversees collection, assimilation, analysis, and management of data for process modeling and design work.
  • Prepares process models and carries out complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
  • Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Leads larger production teams; coordinates multiple discipline activity; and serves as the responsible charge for a project.
  • Develops conceptual-level life cycle costs to evaluate treatment options.
  • Coordinates with internal and external team members for successful project execution.
  • Assists with identification of key client interests and drivers for ongoing projects and identification of new business prospects.
  • Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops creative solutions to accommodate clients' goals.
  • Provides support to business development or pursuit activities, including involvement in pre-positioning meetings, proposal development, and client interviews.
  • Mentors junior engineers and assists with performance management processes.
  • Provides guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes related to water quality and treatment.
  • Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
