About The Position

As a Waste Water Technician at Wheatland Tube a division of Zekelman Industries, Blytheville, AR, you will play a key role in operating and maintaining the facility’s wastewater treatment system to ensure environmental compliance, safety, and process efficiency. This position supports plant quality objectives through monitoring, inspection, and process control activities. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a manufacturing environment, demonstrates strong analytical ability, and maintains a high commitment to safety and environmental standards. Shift: 6pm - 6am

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong decision-making, analytical, and computational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to coordinate efforts across departments.
  • Commitment to promoting health and safety work practices in accordance with regulatory agencies and company policy.
  • Ability to bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, push, and pull.
  • Ability to reach in all directions.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks required in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in accordance with company safety policies and report unsafe conditions.
  • Operate and maintain the wastewater treatment system, including electric motors, pumps, and valves.
  • Regulate flow of raw water into the treatment plant to maintain proper processing levels.
  • Dose appropriate quantities of chemicals into process water.
  • Clean and calibrate instrumentation such as pH probes.
  • Operate sludge filter press equipment and perform preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinate with the Environmental Manager and other departments to troubleshoot system issues.
  • Record water flow meter and pH readings throughout the facility.
  • Perform laboratory indicator testing of effluent water and make process adjustments as necessary.
  • Coordinate monthly discharge sample collection for the wastewater treatment system.
  • Conduct inspections of plant processes to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Perform workstation audits to ensure quality procedures are implemented effectively.
  • Provide regular training to hourly teammates on quality standards and plans.
  • Support the gauge calibration program by issuing and monitoring gauges used on the floor.
  • Conduct daily audits of gauges utilized throughout the facility.
  • Coordinate special projects as directed by the Quality Manager.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and yield initiatives.
  • Support plant quality objectives through inspection and process control activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance.
