About The Position

The Wastewater Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation and performance of a single Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). This role ensures the facility operates safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with all environmental, health, and regulatory requirements. The Supervisor oversees plant personnel, monitors system performance, maintains required documentation, and supports budgetary, maintenance, and safety objectives in coordination with site leadership. · Oversees day‑to‑day operations of the WWTP, ensuring consistent, reliable treatment performance and regulatory compliance. · Develops and manages the plant’s operational budget, ensuring effective cost control and resource utilization. · Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations, including PA DEP requirements. · Identifies and reports deviations from standard operating procedures or compliance issues to plant and corporate leadership. · Continuously evaluates plant processes and procedures to improve efficiency, reliability, and environmental performance. · Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs), maintains accurate operational logs, and prepares required regulatory and internal reports. · Collects and compiles utility usage data (e.g., electricity, water, steam, fuel, waste) to support analysis and long‑term planning. · Supports and enforces plant safety programs, ensuring employees follow safety protocols and equipment is maintained in safe working condition. · Provides direct supervision of WWTP staff, including scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management. · Participates in hiring, onboarding, and development of plant wastewater personnel. · Maintains current knowledge of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies through training and professional development. · Maintains a valid Wastewater Systems Operator Certification (Class A) as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP). · Performs special projects or additional duties as assigned by plant management.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in industrial wastewater treatment system operation and regulatory compliance, preferably in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, biological systems, and plant operations.
  • Required: Wastewater Systems Operator Certification (Class A) issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to guide, coach, and motivate plant staff.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data collection, reporting, and monitoring systems for performance and compliance.
  • Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast‑paced, compliance‑driven environment.
