Purpose: The WWT Supervisor is responsible for all activities at the Crystal Clean centralized waste treatment facility located in Bakersfield, California. The main responsibilities of the position are outlined below. This position will direct and coordinate all processing activities including identifying the processing limitations and capabilities of staff and equipment to effectively process all received materials. Wastewater treatment processing equipment at the facility includes, but not limited to, oil/water separator, DAF, dewatering equipment, foam fractionation and reverse osmosis equipment. The ability and willingness to learn the operation of the processing equipment at the facility to effectively manage waste treatment activities and direct employees, as well as the willingness to implement new processing equipment in the future. Facility activities also include on-site transfers, loading/off-loading activities and scheduling of tankers, railcars, and box trailers with internal and external customers. This position is responsible for all operating site personnel and oversees their activity on a daily basis. Maintaining compliance with all permits that are associated with facility operations. Responsible for inventory management at the site, including interfacing with sales for fulfilling sales orders, coordinating disposal shipments with third party treatment and disposal facilities, and overseeing the transfer of waste materials into the site for processing. All supporting purchasing activities and all corporate reporting for this department are the responsibility of this position. Essential Duties: Responsible for working safely in all job aspects and functions. Promotes and fosters safety and efficiency in all waste facility employees and activity. Ensures facility and equipment is properly maintained. Identify and develop key business opportunities to drive growth and profitability for the facility. Outlines daily/weekly/monthly objectives and activity for employees. Provides daily/weekly/monthly updates to senior management on facility activity. Maintains facility compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local requirements. Maintains accurate records of facility activity. Delivers training and counseling to employees to promote personal and employment growth. Assists in various job capacities to support efficient operations, when necessary. Coordinate scheduling of railcars, tankers, box trailers into and out of the facility Develop procedures and oversee training of all employees under his/her supervision Report activities to Operations Management and Corporate Accounting. Responsible for P&L of the facility and development of key metrics to measure operational performance and budget results Other Duties Provides support for other operations functions and performs other duties as may be assigned and directed by the Area Manager. Requirements

  • Supervisory experience required
  • Minimum 5 years waste processing experience with relevant processes
  • Experience with industrial waste processing equipment operating and maintenance procedures.
  • Experience with industrial waste water pre-treatment.
  • Experience with environmental permitting, plant design, vendor management and construction.
  • Shipping and Receiving experience required in similar industries and similar volumes
  • Experience with managing within regulatory environment required including but not limited to RCRA, CWA, CAL EPA, DOT, OSHA.
  • Process knowledge and experience to help direct staff and processes
  • Schedules inbound and outbound shipments for the facility
  • Adheres to established schedules and deadlines
  • Intuitive and able to identify improvements required to streamline processes
  • Ability to effectively interact with management, other members of department and vendors.
  • Functions within established corporate and regulatory guidelines
  • Present a positive image of Heritage-Crystal Clean to fellow employees, regulatory agencies, internal and external customers and the general public
  • Basic knowledge of Word and Outlook Required
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel required
