Woodard & Curran offers a unique opportunity to join our Water Infrastructure team to provide high-quality water, wastewater, and recycled water services to municipal clients across the firm’s geographies and core markets. The successful candidate will have technical expertise in environmental engineering and an in-depth understanding of the engineering concepts associated with water and wastewater treatment. Direct experience with solids removal and handling, nutrient removal technologies, extended aeration facilities, membrane treatment equipment, pump selection and sizing, and process piping is highly valued. Working knowledge of wastewater and water operational methods is a plus. Water/Wastewater, Collection, and Distribution experience is also a plus. The candidate will have experience preparing design documents (including calculation sheets, drawings, and specifications), engineering reports, and contract documents for bidding and construction and overseeing the construction of water and wastewater projects in the field. The successful candidate will work in a project team setting and report to Project Managers and Technical Managers who provide project leadership and direction through coordination and mentoring of team members, setting the project schedule, and controlling the execution of the project tasks. Offering Flexible Hybrid Work Schedule: From our Tampa, Florida Office Travel up to 10% (local travel) These projects include: Municipal wastewater systems, including collection systems infrastructure, pumping system hydraulics, and wastewater treatment processes. Biosolids and renewable energy development. Drinking water distribution and treatment systems.

Requirements

  • 4-9 years of engineering experience.
  • B.S. Degree in Civil or Environmental or Chemical Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer is a plus, or the ability to obtain a Florida P.E. license within one year of employment

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating your work and the work of other junior engineers.
  • Developing and monitoring the schedule and budget components of larger projects.
  • Demonstrating strong and proactive communication skills to keep the project team regularly updated on all issues and work progress on projects.
  • Leading the design or portions of the design.
  • Working with and coordinating discipline work (civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, geotech, survey, etc.) internally and through sub-contractors.
  • Performing Construction Administration (CA), including coordinating and conducting submittal reviews, reviewing contractor requests for information (RFIs), and reviewing contractor payment applications.
  • Working with AutoCAD software and guiding designers/drafters on design drawing production.
  • Making decisions independently or with appropriate oversight on engineering problems and methods.
  • Working on multiple projects simultaneously and meeting the needs of each project in a professional, reliable, and organized manner.
  • Mentoring and directing staff on technical assignments and reviewing technical work completed by engineers under supervision.
  • Connecting and working with external suppliers and subcontractors for quoting and furnishing materials and services.
  • Interacting with clients and representing the firm in a professional manner.
  • Spending time in the field or on construction projects, as applicable to the project.
  • Coordinating with contractors and clients in the field during construction to ensure that projects are executed in compliance with the specifications and drawings.
  • Interfacing with local and state regulatory agencies.
  • Assisting with proposal development and new opportunity pursuits.
  • Participation in professional organizations.
