The Wastewater Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the wastewater treatment facility and its processes. This role involves ensuring compliance with state and federal operating regulations and managing the underground sewer system. Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Wastewater Supervisor, subject to review through reports and results achieved. Responsibilities include performing all aspects of wastewater sampling, monitoring, and testing required to maintain compliance with regulations, completing required reports, assisting with the installation and inspection of new equipment, conducting daily inspections, and maintaining open communication with the management team regarding operations and malfunctions.

Requirements

  • Must possess a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's Grade II license or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of two years as a wastewater treatment operator.
  • Ability to perform and document various tests required by State and Federal agencies.
  • Working knowledge of the operation, methods, and procedures of a wastewater treatment plant.
  • Knowledge of machinery used for wastewater treatment and pumping stations.
  • Ability to diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions.
  • Knowledge of basic machinery preventive maintenance and repair.
  • Basic knowledge of State and Federal rules governing wastewater discharges and worker's safety.
  • Experience leading and following Safety/Security Policies and Procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the wastewater treatment facility and its processes.
  • Perform all aspects of wastewater sampling, monitoring, and testing required to maintain compliance with regulations.
  • Complete all required internal and external reports, forms, and documentation in English.
  • Assist with the installation and inspection of new wastewater equipment, components, lines, and services.
  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of the physical plant and pump stations.
  • Conduct daily inspections to ensure proper working order of the treatment plant and operations.
  • Maintain communication with management regarding treatment process and pump station operations.
  • Provide technical support to review proposed regulatory compliance activities.
