About The Position

The purpose of this job is to perform lead work on an assigned shift performing a variety of tasks to ensure the proper treatment of wastewater and to sustain regulated permit limits.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent.
  • 5 years' experience in wastewater operations.
  • Valid Missouri "D" level wastewater operator's certificate required.
  • Valid Missouri "A" level wastewater operator's certificate within 6 months of hire.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of Wastewater treatment and hydraulics practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Knowledge of Common business software applications such as Microsoft Office.
  • Skill in Maintaining accurate records.
  • Skill in Organizing and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Skill in Communicating verbally and in writing to meet the needs of the audience.
  • Skill in Applying active listening and asking questions for understanding.
  • Skill in Estimating time and materials needed to complete jobs.
  • Ability to Read meters, gauges, and level sensors.
  • Ability to Sample and test wastewater.
  • Ability to Interpret lab data.
  • Ability to Provide direction to other operators.
  • Ability to Use and maintain hand and power tools
  • Ability to Diagnose mechanical problems.
  • Ability to Recognize, analyze and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to Focus on tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors treatment plant, observes operating conditions, and interprets meter and gauge readings.
  • Trains other operators and directs their tasks.
  • Samples wastewater and performs tests.
  • Performs cleaning and janitorial duties throughout plant.
  • Records data from meters, gauges, and control panels.
  • Troubleshoots operational and equipment problems.
  • Conducts pressure washing of wastewater clarifiers and aeration basins.
  • Operates forklift or hand-truck to move materials, supplies, equipment, and collected debris.
  • Prepares work and maintenance repair orders. Performs minor and preventative maintenance. Assists in major maintenance and repair activities.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
