About The Position

The purpose of this job is to perform lead work on an assigned shift performing a variety of tasks to ensure the proper treatment of wastewater and to sustain regulated permit limits.

Requirements

High School or equivalent.
5 years' experience in wastewater operations.
Valid Missouri "D" level wastewater operator's certificate required.
Valid Missouri "A" level wastewater operator's certificate within 6 months of hire.
Valid driver's license.
Knowledge of Wastewater treatment and hydraulics practices and procedures.
Knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
Knowledge of Common business software applications such as Microsoft Office.
Skill in Maintaining accurate records.
Skill in Organizing and maintaining attention to detail.
Skill in Communicating verbally and in writing to meet the needs of the audience.
Skill in Applying active listening and asking questions for understanding.
Skill in Estimating time and materials needed to complete jobs.
Ability to Read meters, gauges, and level sensors.
Ability to Sample and test wastewater.
Ability to Interpret lab data.
Ability to Provide direction to other operators.
Ability to Use and maintain hand and power tools
Ability to Diagnose mechanical problems.
Ability to Recognize, analyze and solve a variety of problems.
Ability to Focus on tasks.

Responsibilities

Monitors treatment plant, observes operating conditions, and interprets meter and gauge readings.
Trains other operators and directs their tasks.
Samples wastewater and performs tests.
Performs cleaning and janitorial duties throughout plant.
Records data from meters, gauges, and control panels.
Troubleshoots operational and equipment problems.
Conducts pressure washing of wastewater clarifiers and aeration basins.
Operates forklift or hand-truck to move materials, supplies, equipment, and collected debris.
Prepares work and maintenance repair orders. Performs minor and preventative maintenance. Assists in major maintenance and repair activities.
Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
Performs other duties as assigned.
