About The Position

The Wastewater Operator position at the Sanitary Engineer's Office involves operating wastewater treatment plants that include various processes such as bar screens, lift stations, and activated sludge systems. The operator is responsible for making necessary adjustments to equipment and processes to comply with OEPA requirements. This role also includes maintaining equipment, performing daily chemical tests, and preparing reports on test results and plant inspections. The operator will perform general groundskeeping and housekeeping tasks and assist in the operation and repair of other department equipment. This is a full-time position with multiple shifts available.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must obtain Ohio EPA Class I Wastewater License within two (2) years of employment
• Valid Ohio Driver's License with a clean driving record and proof of adequate vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

• Operates wastewater treatment plants including bar screens, lift stations, and various treatment processes.
• Makes necessary adjustments on equipment and processes to meet OEPA requirements.
• Maintains equipment by lubricating moving parts, adjusting packing, and replacing worn parts.
• Repairs chemical feed equipment and performs general groundskeeping and housekeeping.
• Performs daily chemical tests and routine laboratory tests on treatment plant flows.
• Maintains treatment plant records and prepares daily and monthly reports on test results.
• Answers routine telephone requests and refers inquiries to appropriate personnel.
• Studies treatment plant operation and performs other tasks as assigned.
