About The Position

The primary role is responsible for supervising the wastewater department, including the front-line personnel and implementing and overseeing operational processes that are engaged in the functional area of Production for wastewater operations. The position involves supervising a team of front-line staff engaged in production wastewater operations, scheduling training and development activities to ensure that personnel obtain and maintain appropriate operator certifications from regulating agencies, and participating in the resolution of union and/or non-union labor issues. Additionally, the role includes recording, compiling, and providing operating data to track the financial performance of production operations, coordinating the construction of new and/or upgraded production facilities in accordance with the approved CAPEX budget, and implementing a preventative maintenance program for capital assets that provides OPEX savings and defers CAPEX spending, where possible. The position also requires day-to-day implementation of security efforts at all wastewater production facilities and supervising daily activities to ensure that adequate quantities of treated wastewater meeting all regulatory standards are provided to customers at all times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in operational discipline, management, or related technical discipline preferred.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience in wastewater utility.
  • Previous experience managing teams, projects, or departments is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Requires weekly local travel within the region as needed.
  • Wastewater License preferred.
  • Wastewater experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the regulated water business and the regulations impacting the business is preferred.
  • Knowledge of wastewater processes and operational areas, including treatment plants and collection systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop staff.
  • Responsible for frontline decision making to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction.
