About The Position

OPEN UNTIL FILLED Job Type: Classified Job Classification: 5803 - Wastewater Maintenance Specialist I Salary Grade: 6 Pay Range Hiring Range: $21.12 - $24.81 Per Hour Pay Range: $21.12 - $28.50 Per Hour Range Explanation: Hiring Range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity. The Wastewater Maintenance Specialist I performs routine maintenance and minor repairs of wastewater treatment instrumentation and process control systems. Including liquid level sensors, chemical analyzers, flowmeters, automated samplers, and water quality analyzers. Requirements

  • One year of experience working in industrial mechanical maintenance and repair, pumping systems, instrumentation, process control, electrical systems or power generation engine maintenance. (Work experience limited to automotive, truck, or heavy equipment maintenance is not qualifying experience.) (Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)
  • OR: One year of experience with Pima County as a Maintenance Mechanic, Utility Service Worker I, Trades Maintenance Helper, or Trades Maintenance Technician in other than automotive, truck, or heavy equipment repair and/or maintenance.

  • Valid driver license is required at time of application.
  • Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment.
  • The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures.
  • Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination.
  • Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record.
  • The County requires pre-employment background checks.
  • Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with instrumentation, including installation, calibration, repair, and routine maintenance of pressure, level measurement, flow meter, automated sampling, and chemical analyzer systems.
  • Experience with industrial mechanical equipment, performing repairs and routine maintenance of industrial equipment, and PLC automation.
  • Experience in obtaining and analyzing process samples, determining calibration requirements, and performing calibration of analyzer systems.
  • Experience using digital multimeters or process meters.
  • Experience in the fabrication of control panels and cabinetry.
  • Experience in maintaining work history for maintenance and preventative maintenance activity logs and computer tracking software.
  • Experience interpreting blueprints, schematics, and diagrams during maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Performs repairs and routine maintenance of industrial wastewater pumps, pumping systems, industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, and power-generating engines
  • Assists Wastewater Mechanics, Instrumentation Specialists, and Trades Maintenance Specialists and Technicians in non-routine maintenance, repairs, and construction of assigned facilities and systems
  • Assists Wastewater Mechanics in the repair and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities and wastewater conveyance systems
  • Assists other journey-level trade workers, such as painters, welders, electricians, and instrumentation technicians
  • Assists specialists/technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of specialized equipment or controls
  • Lifts and moves heavy materials, tools, and supplies
  • Uses and maintains safety and personal protective equipment
  • Performs operator-level maintenance, servicing, and adjustments of common tools and equipment
  • Performs worksite clean-up following completion of jobs.
