About The Position

The Wastewater Instrumentation Electrical and Control Technician-Senior position at Colorado Springs Utilities involves supporting the Resource Recovery Facilities (RRFs) by installing, maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing various electronic, instrumentation, control, and electrical systems. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient operation of the wastewater treatment facilities, which are adapting to new technologies such as Emerson DeltaV DCS. The technician will work with a variety of equipment and systems, contributing to the overall improvement of wastewater treatment processes.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting, designing, repairing, and calibrating communication, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Experience working on and installing related electrical equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic and electrical theories, including analog and digital principles, pneumatics, and electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Proficiency in PLC/DCS and HMI programming, basic mathematics, algebra, and trigonometry.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman Electrician certification or an Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology.
  • Rockwell Automation training or experience.
  • Emerson DeltaV training.

Responsibilities

  • Install, calibrate, maintain, test, troubleshoot, tune, and repair electronic and mechanical equipment such as transmitters, actuators, controllers, and other instrumentation.
  • Conduct electrical work including maintaining and installing motor control centers and variable frequency drives (VFD).
  • Conduct tests and calibrate various instrumentation and analyzers including pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, TSS, and chlorine.
  • Install, tune, and calibrate microprocessor-based instrumentation and control system components.
  • Design and integrate interfaces from new systems into existing controls.
  • Develop, maintain, and upgrade various real-time process control computer systems, including database management and programming of PLCs and HMIs.
  • Configure and troubleshoot various communication networks such as Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Hart, and Ethernet.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation regarding system performance and maintenance.
