About The Position

The Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator I is a skilled position responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Collection System. The operator will work under the supervision of the Water and Wastewater Lead Operator, performing essential duties such as testing water at various treatment stages, interpreting meter readings, and conducting laboratory analyses. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
  • Group I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification issued by the State of WA Department of Ecology.
  • Ability to pass and maintain the respirator fit test due to work around chlorine gas.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check, drug test, and physical as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • U.S. Citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and control electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate the flow of raw wastewater into the treatment plant.
  • Perform on-site operation and preventative maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Sewage Collection system.
  • Observe variations in operating conditions and interpret meter readings and test results to ensure proper treatment plant operations.
  • Maintain a log of wastewater treatment plant routine operations and maintenance activities.
  • Learn and adhere to all effluent quality regulations.
  • Ensure the wastewater plant process is running smoothly during shifts.
  • Update operating records and perform accurate lab analysis.
  • Submit reports pertaining to compliance of the wastewater plant.
  • Perform daily operational and fluid checks on vehicles and maintain equipment in good working condition.
  • Keep the Lead Operator informed of work situations and problems encountered.
  • Adhere to company safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Determine parts, supplies, and material requirements for job accomplishment and manage inventory.
  • Accomplish the preventative maintenance plan and learn collection systems pipe and manhole locations for emergency response.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
