About The Position

Pilgrim's is looking for a Waste Water Superintendent to ensure that all wastewater leaving the facility meets the requirements set forth by local, state, and federal governments, and to communicate any changes in water quality of engineering processes to the local city government. This role will be based at our Water Treatment facility in Cold Spring, MN. At Pilgrim's, Safety Is A Condition, which means the safety of our team members comes first - always.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • TCEQ Wastewater Treatment Certification, Class 'CC' Wastewater Certification required.
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience, including experience in supervision, is required.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and climb.
  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, self-motivated.
  • Ability to take directions and follow through.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Word and Excel; SAP experience a plus.
  • Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the chemical inventory required for daily operations and the maintenance and repair of waste treatment facilities and equipment.
  • Actively participate in HazMat and Confined Space Rescue Teams and may serve as a plant safety team leader.
  • Supervise emergency repairs with the ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and effect repairs to ensure minimal downtime while keeping the plant running efficiently.
  • Must obey all SAFETY, USDA, HACCP, and PLANT rules and regulations.
  • Collect samples for outside lab, as necessary.
  • Collect samples and run in-house lab tests, such as: pH, COD, Ammonia, TSS, 30 min. Set, etc., in a reasonable amount of time and log it on the daily log.
  • Check D.O. at assigned monitoring points every two hours or as required.
  • Calibrate and keep daily logs on lab equipment: pH daily, D.O. meter and chlorine meter, etc., or as required.
  • Manage employee performance.
  • Train and provide an environment for employees to achieve maximum quality.
  • Maintain company standards established for safety and company policies and procedures.
  • Create and maintain outstanding employee relations and have the ability to manage the team's performance, providing positive and corrective feedback.
  • Investigate, in cooperation with Shift Supervisors, all areas for quality improvement and cost reductions, and implement improvement using the CIP process.
  • Other duties as required.
