About The Position

The Waste Water Operator is responsible for operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining various wastewater system process equipment, including Coal Pile Runoff, Low Volume Waste, and FGD Fines Dewatering systems. The operator must be knowledgeable about all applicable CCR and ELG wastewater regulations to ensure safe and efficient operations of the wastewater treatment facilities. This position requires a South Carolina Class 'C' Physical Chemical Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license and the ability to work rotating shifts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Additional technical courses related to water plant operations/maintenance.
  • Experience requirements vary based on operator level (A, B, or C).
  • Must possess a South Carolina Class 'C' Physical Chemical Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license for Waste Water Operator C.
  • Must possess a South Carolina Class 'B' Physical Chemical Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license for Waste Water Operator B.
  • Must possess a South Carolina Class 'A' Physical Chemical Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license for Waste Water Operator A.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in a technical or science-related discipline preferred for Waste Water Operator B and A.
  • Experience in wastewater treatment operations.

Responsibilities

  • Treat multiple wastewater streams using physical chemical processes to meet all CCR and ELG Rule standards.
  • Monitor and adjust chemical dosages and flows based on wastewater conditions, regulatory requirements, and laboratory testing.
  • Maintain inventories of chemicals, supplies, and equipment to ensure adequate on-hand quantities for operation.
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations with Results Lab, Operations, and Gypsum Dewatering departments.
  • Collect and analyze process and regulatory wastewater samples.
  • Maintain lab bench sheets, log book records, and monitor all wastewater treatment instrumentation.
  • Operate equipment such as pumps, valves, and clarifiers as needed.
  • Execute plant start-ups/shut downs, filter maintenance, and chemical unloading/handling.
  • Monitor process equipment and facilities conditions, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and write work orders for maintenance.
  • Maintain and clean equipment in regularly assigned areas.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of station wastewater systems.
  • Train and assist coworkers as required.
