About The Position

Interstate Waste Services is hiring Garbage Truck-Collection Helpers for the Shelton, CT Depot. This position involves working Monday through Friday with some Saturday hours, starting early at 4 am and requiring a 10-12 hour shift. The hourly pay is $17.50, with overtime pay applicable after 40 hours. The role includes various duties such as helping around the yard by sweeping, cleaning, and organizing, as well as assisting on the truck with waste collection. Requirements

• Must meet physical standards as specified, including the ability to lift, push, and pull waste bags and receptacles weighing approximately 50-75+ lbs.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Experience in the sanitation industry is strongly preferred.
• Position requires a team-player attitude as the job is spent in close quarters with other staff members.

Responsibilities

• Collect and load refuse from customer locations into a heavy-duty sanitation vehicle primarily by hand.
• Transfer refuse in a timely and safe manner from customer stops to the vehicle.
• Assist the driver while maneuvering into positions for collection and disposal.
• Maintain and partake in daily clean-up of the vehicle.
• Learn garbage routes to better assist the driver.
• Attend all required training, operational meetings, and mandatory monthly Safety Meetings.
