About The Position

The Stadium Waste Operations Manager oversees all waste, recycling, and sustainability operations within the stadium environment. This role ensures efficient waste collection, separation, disposal, and diversion efforts during both event and non‑event days. The manager leads teams, develops operational standards, partners with vendors, and drives sustainability goals to maintain a clean, safe, and environmentally responsible stadium.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience in waste management, facilities management, stadium/arena operations, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of recycling, composting, and waste‑diversion practices.
  • Experience managing teams in a fast‑paced, labor‑intensive environment.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
  • Effective staffing and adherence to budgetary guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience in large sports or entertainment venues.
  • Familiarity with sustainability certifications or programs

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily waste collection, sorting, and disposal across the stadium.
  • Coordinate staffing, equipment, and waste operations for major events.
  • Maintain and improve recycling, composting, and waste‑diversion programs.
  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal waste‑management regulations, including hazardous waste handling.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise waste operations staff.
  • Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Manage relationships with waste‑hauling vendors and sustainability partners.
  • Align waste operations with concessions, housekeeping, security, and maintenance teams.
  • Develop and implement standardized waste‑handling procedures across all stadium areas.
  • Conduct waste audits to identify diversion opportunities and operational improvements.
  • Track operational metrics such as compactor usage and container capacities.
  • Support fast turnaround and waste readiness for back-to-back events.
  • Maintain waste recovery areas by cleaning equipment, keeping spaces organized and service needs immediately
  • Maintain strong communication and working relationships with clients, staff, and supervisors.
  • Provide daily compactor and container capacity readings to the client.
  • Help create and communicate adjustments to waste‑hauling schedules based on identified needs.
  • Willingness and ability to support other areas of the operation / overall department as determined by priorities, resources, and schedule.
