About The Position

The Warranty Technician at GKN Automotive plays a crucial role in providing technical assistance and support throughout the warranty part investigation process. This position is responsible for analyzing warranty data, coordinating documentation, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards while contributing to warranty improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' combined experience in AWD Driveline Torque Products.
  • Experience working in a Quality Function.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem solving skills (ex. 5WHYs, 8D, fishbone, PPS).
  • Computer literacy in necessary software aptitude.
  • Manufacturing knowledge or experience.
  • Familiar with basic Vehicle Evaluation Methods.
  • Excellent mechanical assembly and dis-assembly skills.
  • Accurate interpretation of Engineering drawings, basic GD&T, and execution of Engineering and Manufacturing instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with product warranties and analysing warranty data.
  • Experience with warranty management systems.
  • Knowledge of customer standards and requirements.
  • Interpretation of drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience/training in ISO/TS 16949 systems.
  • Experience conducting RCFAs (root cause failure analyses) on products.
  • Lean Principles, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma training.
  • Familiar with work done in the inspection labs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the definition of methods and procedures for effective warranty part analysis.
  • Carry out warranty part analysis in accordance with the Warranty Management Process and aligned with GKN and customer requirements.
  • Assist in the analysis of customer warranty data and key performance indicators (KPI's). Maintain and utilize warranty database (GRAD or others).
  • Perform warranty parts return investigation and support root cause and liability analysis.
  • Based on warranty data and part analysis, escalate any reliability risk predictions to the engineer.
  • Assist in the timely reporting of the part return investigation results. Retain appropriate documented information and warranty parts as evidence of the analysis.
  • Coordinate documentation of warranty data for customer based warranty systems.
  • Support Quality and Engineering functions by performing tasks that enable data collection for Supplier Change Requests/PPAP Submissions.
  • Participate in technical discussions with customers and suppliers.
  • Contribute to warranty improvement roadmaps to meet customer and business objectives.
  • Organize and present data to the management team to support decision making.
  • Ensure the respective warranty area meets Safety and 5S Guidelines.
  • Undertake training for changes in technology and quality requirements.
  • Responsible for communication and enforcement of Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality policies and procedures.
