About The Position

This year-round, hourly position performs a broad range of facility maintenance, custodial, and customer service functions at Warner Park Community Recreation Center (WPCRC). A WPCRC Building Attendant is responsible for preparing the WPCRC for operation, performing all custodial duties, and assisting with community programs, open gyms, fitness room orientations, special events, and front desk operations. This work is performed independently and requires night, early evening, and weekend availability. This position does not require a driver's license. The current recruitment is to fill two (2) vacant positions. This recruitment may be used to fill additional WPCRC Building Attendant vacancies that occur within the next six (6) months.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with multicultural communities.
  • Must be available for part-time work year-round as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on their own and heavier objects with assistance of others.
  • Work may be performed outdoors in all types of weather, including adverse weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain floors, carpets, and stairways by sweeping, vacuuming, scrubbing, and mopping.
  • Collect and remove trash and refuse from wastebaskets, trash boxes, and other refuse/recyclable containers and properly dispose of those wastes.
  • Clean and maintain rooms by dusting, scrubbing, and polishing shelves, furniture, fabric partitions, bathroom fixtures, ceilings, and other equipment and/or appliances.
  • Operate the power scrubber and shovel snow from the building entrance.
  • Perform receptionist duties and provide information about departmental services and programs.
  • Assist the public, employees, or any other internal or external customers by responding to inquiries in person and by phone.
  • Assist public in completing forms and applications.
  • Maintain manual and computerized records.
  • Use computers and typewriters to compose/create a variety of documents.
  • Collect fees, issue receipts, and perform monetary transactions.
  • Serve angry, upset, and/or disoriented individuals with tact and discretion.
  • Set up and take down tables and chairs for rentals.
  • Operate and troubleshoot Public Address (P.A.) systems and audio-visual equipment.
  • Exercise personal judgment and initiative in resolving conflicts.
  • Respond to the needs of rental customers and caterers.
  • Enforce WPCRC rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Check locker rooms and bathrooms, and patrol building activities.
  • Establish a positive, safe, and fun environment for youth participating in open gym and game room time.
  • Develop positive relationships with youth, WPCRC members, and staff.
  • Keep gym floor, bleachers, and storage room clean.
  • Assist with community programs, open gyms, fitness room orientations, and special events.

Benefits

  • $20.28 Hourly salary
  • Part-time work approximately 10-20 hours per week, including nights and weekends.
