About The Position

The Warehouseperson position in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, is responsible for loading and unloading freight accurately, managing inventory control, and performing various warehouse-related duties. This is an intermediate level position that requires good interpersonal skills and a high school diploma or equivalent. The role involves tasks such as loading inbound and outbound freight, unloading containers, sorting freight, reconciling delivery manifests, labeling and weighing freight, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The Warehouseperson will also be responsible for inventory rotation and inspection, completing required documentation, and ensuring quality standards for warehouse storage and service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1-3 years of experience preferred
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment such as a forklift and a computer
  • Strong organizational, inventory, and accounting skills
  • Ability to read, decode, and decipher freight coding
  • Ability to operate hand truck and forklift
  • Ability to perform tasks in inclement weather conditions
  • Physical ability to push, pull, and lift varying weights up to 50+ lbs

Responsibilities

  • Load inbound and outbound freight to and from vehicles and containers
  • Unload inbound and outbound containers and sort according to size of freight and destination
  • Read, decode, and decipher freight coding to expedite freight movement and tracing process
  • Reconcile driver pick up and delivery manifests
  • Label, weigh, and dimensionalize freight
  • Perform cleanup activities in the work area to ensure safety and cleanliness of dock
  • Record damaged shipments and misrouted freight on applicable reports
  • Responsible for inventory, rotation, and inspection of freight held in the warehouse
  • Complete required documentation and other duties as needed
  • Maintain quality standards for warehouse storage and service including communication to internal and external customers
  • Maintain and ensure a safe working environment
  • Complete other duties or tasks as assigned
