Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three months or more related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, packing slips, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed (Receiving)
  • Marks materials with identifying information (Receiving)
  • Opens bales, crates, and other containers (Receiving)
  • Verifies and records amounts of materials or items received or distributed (Receiving)
  • Drives equipment to transport items within the warehouse (Receiving)
  • Uses computer to enter records (Receiving)
  • Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications (Receiving)
  • Sorts and places material or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, style, or product code (Put away)
  • Marks materials with identifying information (Put away)
  • Weighs or counts items for distribution within warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards (Put away)
  • Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to customers and sales (Picking)
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department (Picking)
  • Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications (Picking)
  • Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed (Packing)
  • Verifies the product that has been picked and documents discrepancies on an error log and has correct product re-picked (Packing)
  • Confirm tickets (Packing)
  • Use computer to enter records in system (Packing)
  • Consolidates freight for shipping (Loading)
  • Load trucks for delivery to customers (Loading)
  • Facilitates and distributes shipping tickets (Routing)
  • Verifies shipping method (Routing)
  • Manages delayed release tickets (Routing)
  • Communicates oversize loads to freight carriers (Routing)
  • Inspects and maintains printing equipment (Routing)
  • Ensures shipping routes are maintained (Routing)
  • Receive pipe and conduit (Pipe Yard)
  • Prepare pipe and conduit bundles for shipping orders (Pipe Yard)
  • Other duties may be assigned
