About The Position

Smith & Loveless is united under one cause: “Protecting Water. Protecting People.” We are seeking a 2nd Shift Warehouse Worker to partner with our experienced warehouse team in this environmentally focused industry. A 2nd Shift Warehouse Worker at Smith and Loveless operates material handling equipment to move, load and unload materials as necessary using forklifts, cranes, tractor/trailers, trucks, etc. and manually move materials and finished products to storage, production, and loadout. This is a second shift position, if hired, the ideal candidate will work 4:00 pm to 12:30 am with a dinner period.

Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Previous warehouse experience required.
  • Previous forklift experience and certification required.
  • Ability to read work orders, pull material and count inventory.
  • Demonstrated good work attendance.
  • Must be able to work diligently and maintain urgency to complete tasks timely.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Must be able to read and use a tape measure.
  • Must be able to wear PPE (Eyeglasses, earplugs, and steel toe shoes)
  • Requires an employee to be able to be in motion on a hard surface.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, and stretching.
  • Ability to push, pull, carry 50-100 pounds.
  • Noise level of an average production floor.
  • Able to climb ladders and ascend stairs for installations.
  • Must complete a satisfactory physical exam, alcohol screen and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Moves and inventories materials within factory areas or outside production facilities as assigned and prepares for shipping.
  • Observes all safety rules and regulations and keeps equipment and area clean and orderly.
  • Works from verbal instructions, bills of material, material requisitions and other documents.
  • Unload and load purchased materials and/or manufactured products from or onto trailers and rail cars.
  • Manually move some materials and secure load(s) with chains, binders, and straps and performs hooking operations.
  • Reports abnormal conditions or material and equipment to supervisor daily.
  • Operates material handling equipment in rigging, pick-up or delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Constructs creates, boxes, and forms.
  • Checks equipment before operating (i.e., tires, gas, oil, water)
  • Weighs and labels as required for shipment or storage.
  • Stores or issues materials from or to designated areas as directed
  • Other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor and Warehouse Manager.
  • Keep work area neat and clean.
