About The Position

Smith & Loveless is united under one cause: “Protecting Water. Protecting People.” We are seeking a Warehouse Worker / Material Handler (1st or 2nd Shift) to partner with our experience warehouse team in this environmentally focused industry. A Warehouse Worker / Material Handler at Smith and Loveless will operate material handling equipment to move, load and unload materials as necessary using forklifts, cranes, tractor/trailers, trucks, etc. and manually move materials and finished products to storage, production, and loadout. Both shifts are Monday thru Friday. 1st shift hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm and 2nd shift is 4:00 pm to 12:30 am

Requirements

High school diploma preferred.
Previous warehouse experience required. Manufacturing warehouse experience preferred.
Previous forklift experience and certification required.
Ability to read work orders, pull material and count inventory.
Demonstrated good work attendance.
Must be able to work diligently and maintain urgency to complete tasks timely.
Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
Must be able to read and use a tape measure.
Required to sit, stand and walk.
Use hands to finger, hand or feel objects, tools or controls.
Frequent stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
Reach with hands and arms.
Required to talk and hear consistently.
Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or drag up to twenty-five (25) pounds if necessary.
Specific vision abilities required by the role include the ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye.
Ability to ascend and descend two (2) flights of stairs.

Responsibilities

Moves and inventories materials within factory areas or outside production facilities as assigned and prepares for shipping.
Observes all safety rules and regulations and keeps equipment and area clean and orderly.
Works from verbal instructions, bills of material, material requisitions and other documents.
Unload and load purchased materials and/or manufactured products from or onto trailers and rail cars.
Manually move some materials and secure load(s) with chains, binders, and straps and performs hooking operations.
Reports abnormal conditions or material and equipment to supervisor on a daily basis.
Operates material handling equipment in rigging, pick-up or delivery of materials and equipment.
Constructs crates, boxes, and forms.
Checks equipment before operating (i.e., tires, gas, oil, water)
Weighs and labels as required for shipment or storage.
Stores or issues materials from or to designated areas as directed
Other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor and Warehouse Manager.
Keep work area neat and clean.
