About The Position
Tropical Shipping is seeking a Cargo Handling Specialist-Dayshift to join our team of professionals at our Medley, Florida location! This role is responsible for inspecting and receiving cargo, ensuring that all processes are followed accurately and efficiently. The Cargo Handling Specialist will be responsible for receiving cargo, verifying and documenting counts, ensuring that the cargo matches the description on the carrier's freight bill, and properly noting any discrepancies on the delivery agent's paperwork. Additionally, the specialist will check for proper hazardous material documents, sign the delivery receipt, and accept cargo in accordance with the receiving process. The role also involves measuring cargo and entering information into the warehouse management system or on hand-tally, preparing and securing cargo to pallets with shrink wrap and/or tape, and operating a forklift to unload delivery trucks and containers. Other duties may be assigned as required.
